As you may have noticed, Firebox got i18n'ed ! Thus, if you wish to take part in the project, feel free to translate Firebox ! Help about the method can be found here.
Firebox is yet another Window Manager for X11 systems.
Still in development, it is not forked from Openbox, Fluxbox, Blackbox or
even Hackedbox ; it is written from scratch, in C language.
Its goal is not to be a Desktop Manager (ie no pager nor toolbar) but - for
instance - something between Openbox and wmii: small, quite fast, eye candy and
keyboard oriented, with some orginal features.

This shell script grabs the SVN repository and builds a statistics graph using Gnuplot.
Two (not so) surprising points:
- comments and empty lines represent about the half of the sources.
- time between 0.4 and 0.5 is quite equal to the half of the project lifetime.

With a few lateness, a new release of Firebox is finally available !
There is no really original new features this time, focus has been given to rendering. Thus the manager should look faster and more 'eye candy'. Please visit the Changelog page for a full list of changes.
Firebox is becoming more pleasant to use. As graphic part is quite evolved now, next development will be focused on making the manager more keyboard oriented: tiled windows, improved keybindings and constraints. The status of the root menu is still pending: should it be fully deleted or is a support of freedesktop standards needed ? Please give your opinion on this.
For now, the 0.5 version and new themes can be tested from the Download page. Feel free to read the theme guide and submit new theme, or, as usual, any comment or bug report !

There are two new packages: thanks to Raizen, Firebox and its preferences editor are now available as modules for the Lunar-Linux distribution. Visit the download page for more info.
About the next version of the WM, development is strongly active. Things are a little bit broken for now, but the next release should be ready in about two months...

At first, thanks to meister's work, packages for Arch Linux are now available. Unfortunately, they still remained marked as being able to contain malicious code... More information on the download page.
Next, as it was done at NotSoTinyWindowManagers, a small comparative study about Window Managers has been realized. Results can be viewed here.

Finally, thanks to long work, the new release of Firebox is available !
The main new features are themes support and dynamic menu. Thus Firebox should be more pleasant to use. Dependencies to the Xpm library have been removed too. The full ChangeLog is here ; the download page is still this one.
As some points are still lacking and Xrender support must be improved, Firebox remains in a 'still in dev' state.
About the root menu, it still contains hardcoded only entries because it should disappear as soon as the key bindings system will be improved !
NB: an OpenBSD port is scheduled.
CIA IRC BOT

As many other FOSS projects, Firebox gets its own IRC bot. Check it on #firebox !
And thus, the population of the channel doubled !

In this memorable day, the 0.3 version gets finally released !
For the event, Firebox gives himself new means: IRC channel, mailing list, distribution packages, internationalization, aso. Moreover, the Web site is now more complete and provides quantities of useful information.
